Hacking the CVS "one time use" Camcorder

(1.)Make your self a cable using a Palm III serial sync cable.
You will need to connect Pin 6 to USB +5V (red wire) Pin 8 to USB
DATA + (green wire) Pin 9 to USB DATA – (white wire) Pin 10 to Ground (black wire).

(2.)Download CVS Camcorder Quickinstaller 2.9 here.
First read all Insructions in readme.txt.
Install the CVS Camcorder Quickstart program. This copies over Ops 0.9(program to connects to the camera), the libusb installer, and a pre-made driver driver for the camcorder.
Peel off sticker on top of Camera to expose the port.
Plug in the cable and wait for the PC to identify it.
When Windows asks for a driver, choose the inf file at C:\Program Files\Camcorder Quickstart\libusb-win32-device-bin-0.1.10.1\bin\libUSB0.dll.

(3.)Start Ops.
Ops should be in the start menu under CVS Camera Quickstart.
Then click "open camcorder", it should say the "found camcorder" and "connected to camcorder". click "unlock camcorder" it'll make a key for the camcorder and should unlock it. once the camcorder is unlocked, click "download all movies", point Ops to the directory you want your videos in and hit "save". Your Done!

(4.)Advanced features of Ops 0.9
Warning play around with the more advanced features of Ops at your own risk!
In Ops click "view/change camera settings" from here you can change "Resolution" down from default 320x240 and up to 640x480. You can change the "Frame rate" from 30 to 24. You can change "Time Limit" from 20 mins to 60 mins maybe more . You can disable the "Hard Limit". Of course if you up the record time you suffer loss of quality for compression.
I changed my resolution to 640x480, but only got 25 mins recording with the "Hard Limit" off. Leaving the resolution at 320x240 I got 45 mins continues video. You could get more by truning down the resolution.
