The Mind Of a Pirate

I Came across this very interesting Blog tonight and I thought I would share one of their posts.
In my quest to identify the true qualities of a Pirate, I stumble upon many interesting facts.

1) To be a Pirate you must act like a Pirate

You could say this is reminiscent of the old Roman adage; when in Rome act like the Romans. You must understand the burden that a true Pirate experiences; the moral dilemmas, the unending ethical debates, the spoils of war. This rule alone is the building block of which all piracy spawns from.

2) Levels of Piracy

The levels of piracy are very intricate and delicate. To fully grasp them you must hold the rank of Captain among pirates.- Cabin Boy: a person who acquires the services of others to do their pirating for them- Gunner: an individual who understands the basics of piracy, yet rarely practices them- Quatermaster: piracy is prevalent in his life; though he limits his exercise of the trade- First Mate: not to be taken lightly, but still not the rank of Captain- Captain: the spectacle of wonder; all under him must bow to his mercy and knowledge for he is the one which exemplifies piracy and entrances the pirate bug onto others

3) The Walk of a Pirate

More often then not, you encounter the so called "Gunners" who are so confident in their abilities to pirate they forget their place on the hierarchy of Pirates. That is not the way of a true pirate. A true pirate is modest, brave, wise and happy. They absorb information, they welcome added intelligence and they strive to better themselves in the acts of Piracy. That is a true Pirate.

4) The Secrecy of a Pirate

A Pirate must traverse turbulent waters in order to find his booty. They must wait countless hours until the treasure has finally filled the boat. They must guard the secrets of where they pirate, yet they must realize that they must pass on information, on knowledge they have acquired through experience. It may be hard, and at times trying, but as a Pirating community we must understand that knowledge must be passed on through the generations. As long as we keep a firm leash on where this knowledge goes, we will continue to sails the seas of an endless web.So there you have it, the 4 rules of Piracy. But like all rules, they may bend and at times be broken, but they must always be respected.

From one Pirate to the next; goodbye, have fun, and don't get caught ;)
